I was a groomsman at a wedding on August 31, 2025, which I previewed in an August 30, 2025 post about my rental tuxedo on The Emu Café Social. This wedding took place at Swan Club on the Harbor (venue location), which is in Roslyn, New York. This was the first time I had gone to Long Island in about ten years. I took the Long Island Railroad with a friend to the Glen Head stop and managed to take one of the few walkable routes (as in having a sidewalk for most of the route) from the station to Swan Club. The sidewalk died out in the final stretch, but it was still walkable. As I approached the venue, I noticed a street sign that I do not see often in New York City.

Photo of grassy patch near between the street and a pond, with a fence separating the pond from the road. The camera is focused on a yellow diagonal street sign with a bird.
You can see the venue in the back right corner of the photo.

When I saw the bird crossing sign, I knew I had to take a photo. Unlike most of the street signs I have recorded in these pages, the sign is standing and in pristine condition. I suppose the fact that drivers have not taken out the bird crossing sign is good news for any ducks or other birds that may be crossing. I will submit for the record that I did see some ducks on the venue property, but I did not put two-and-two together (with one being that I would write a post about the bird crossing sign) and take a photo.

Google, Apple, and Open Street Maps all wanted me to take Scudders Lane. Since I did not want to die, I opted for Glenwood Road, which takes a bit longer but has a sidewalk. Screenshot from Google Maps because I could not figure out how to change the route in Open Street maps.

(Despite the fact that the venue is Swan Club on the Harbor, I am sad to report that I did not see any swans.)
