I went to the Brooklyn, New York City neighborhood of Williamsburg with a friend on September 28, 2025. It was my first walk to Williamsburg since May 4 of the same year. On my previous Williamsburg excursion, which was to be fitted for a tuxedo I needed for a different friend’s wedding at the end of August, I stumbled upon a BLOB DYLAN graffiti tag. I had covered BLOB DYLAN graffiti extensively in 2021 after having come across a tag in a very rare walk through the more distant (relative to me) Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick. My research back then indicated that BLOB DYLAN tags are common in Williamsburg, although I had not noted any in my few trips to the neighborhood prior to May 2025. But as the saying goes: When it rains it pours. In May 2025 I found a BLOB DYLAN tag scribbled on a fence protecting a tree pit. In September I saw a BLOB tag on a square wooden board covering something on the sidewalk.
This BLOB DYLAN is stylistically similar to the one I documented in Williamsburg a few months prior, with a circle orbiting the “O” in BLOB and a circle around the “A” in DYLAN. It is, however, cruder, which is somewhat surprising in light of the fact that the board provided more room to work with than the narrow cast iron tree pit fence. Both B’s in BLOB are malformed and it looks like BLOB DYLAN, or the BLOB DYLAN impersonator, somehow ran out of room between the first malformed B and the O for the L in BLOB. What happened here?
You may be wondering precisely where I found this BLOB DYLAN. Unfortunately, I cannot make sense of the photograph I took at the scene, so the location of this BLOB DYLAN is a mystery to me.
