On April 8, 2023, I documented what I described in the headline for my report as an Inflatable colorful Easter egg bunny thing. I stumbled upon said Easter egg bunny thing on the periphery of Cobble Hill, one block from Carroll Gardens and across the street (albeit a street carved down the middle by a highway) from Columbia Street Waterfront District. I am happy to report that the “Easter egg bunny thing” has been inflated once again in 2026 and it once again sits proudly outside a home at the intersection of three Brooklyn neighborhoods. However, I will not cover it anew since I covered it before. Instead, I went on the hunt for a new inflatable Easter decoration to share. I found one in neighboring Columbia Street Waterfront District, this one being about a one minute walk from the foot of the Summit Street Bridge.
Unlike the arguably confusing Easter egg bunny thing that sits proudly across the expressway, this inflatable is unambiguously a white Easter bunny in blue overalls with an orange bow-tie. He is happy, waving at us. If there is any ambiguity, it comes in the form of what he is holding. Context would lead me to believe that the Christmas-colored red-and-green object he holds in his (from his perspective) right arm is an Easter egg. But when I look at it and how it is being held, I cannot escape the feeling that it is a football. It is probably not a football, however. No one said that designing inflatable holiday decorations is easy.
Behind the Easter Bunny, we see at least two Easter Bunny figures (boy bunny in the left window, girl bunny in the right window) in the windows. Each window also has a tacked-on bunny sticker. We can also make out some egg decorations. I see a theme in this family’s Easter decorating.
I have not covered many Easter decorations in these pages because they are less common where I most often walk then are Halloween skeletons or (to a lesser extent) Christmas decorations, but I am glad to have found one to share in 2026. I of course wish all the readers of The New Leaf Journal a happy Easter (or that you had a restful Easter, depending on when you read this).
