I have published many articles featuring my photos of inflatable decorations around Brooklyn. Many of these inflatable decorations have been holiday-themed. Prior to my publishing this post, our holiday collection included Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, St. Patrick’s Day, Independence Day, and Valentine’s Day. Missing from this inflatable decoration collection was Hanukkah, which is observed by many in my native Brooklyn. Today, on this the first full day of Hanukkah in 2025 (it commenced yesterday on the evening of the 14th), I remedy this hole in our collection of photographs of inflatable holiday decorations in Brooklyn with an inflatable Happy Hanukkah menorah.
This menorah adorns the lawn of the Cobble Hill Health Center, a rehab facility and nursing home located on 380 Henry Street in the Brooklyn, New York neighborhood of Cobble Hill (it is very close to the third desk in my Three Free Desks in Brooklyn (and a Mirror) article). My picture is not the best for two reasons. Firstly, the building has been surrounded by construction sheds and netting for a couple of years, and that netting comes between the sidewalk and the menorah. The construction situation is a shame because it is a very aesthetic building when it is not shed-encumbered (it is also a shame because I have noted very little construction happening). Secondly, I have yet to fully master my Google Pixel 3a XL camera when running Ubuntu Touch (see an earlier inflatable decoration for notes on the camera). My struggles in using my current phone camera are exacerbated in low light.
Rather than let perfect be the enemy of the good, I went ahead and published my inflatable menorah photograph. I wish all of our Jewish readers a safe, peaceful, and restful seven days of Hanukkah.
