Leaflets are New Leaf Journal mini New Leaf Journal articles – somewhere between a full post and a micropost.
I am testing having The New Leaf Journal use system font stacks (i.e., the fonts already installed on your device) instead of serving its own fonts. Seems to be working – hammering out a few issues related to performance. If you notice any strange behavior, feel free to let me know via our contact page.
Through my first article on the horror story that is outdoor dining sheds in New York City, I learned about an organization called Coalition United for Equitable Urban Policy (CUEUP). The organization is working to “oppose making permanent the Open Restaurant and Bars program” in New York City. I could not agree more with this goal. My take: Those unsanitary sheds are going to cause a Yellow Fever, Cholera, and/or Bubonic Plague outbreak.
I have a large TV cabinet that I purchased from Crate & Barrell about eight or nine years ago. It has glass doors, six shelves, and accomodates my 55-inch TV. The bottom of the drawer (under the shelves) was made of something resembling cardboard and it collapsed many years ago. Removed the drawer today. Fortunately, the bottom of the drawer rack is solid. Now need storage baskets…
Many lucky Vizio TV owners will be happy to find a new feature after their TVs update: jump ads! According to Vizio, this gift to TV owners “represent[s] yet another step in VIZIO’s ongoing mission to unify the smart TV experience with features that benefit viewers…” While I don’t have a Vizio TV, this heartwarming story illustrates why I don’t let my TV connect to the internet.
After (mostly) successfully writing a custom plugin to create the leaflets section, I confidently tried to change our local fonts in order to improve site performance and compatibility with all web browsers. My efforts have been unavailing thus far. But I’ll get to the bottom of it.
Our “leaflets” section will serve as The New Leaf Journal’s microblog. Expect to find several “leaflet” posts each day. The archive URL is https://thenewleafjournal.com/leaf. Why leaf instead of leaflet? Definitely botanical reasons and not because of a technical issue.
