I am a few weeks late in announcing my theme for spring season 2026 at The New Leaf Journal. In fact, we are now closer to the sixth birthday of The New Leaf Journal than to the official start of spring. But all’s well that ends well, for my spring theme will largely be a continuation of our Winter Season 2026 Theme. The theme is spring cleaning. In the context of The New Leaf Journal, that means I will continue working on publishing long-pending projects in my backlog, including a few “big” ones. In the context of my own life, I need to do some work on my home office where I draft and ultimately publish all of your favorite articles and engage in my job. I have a more concrete theme prepared for Summer 2026 (enjoyers of a certain subset of my history articles may be able to guess what it will be), so I had best clean out the backlog of articles that would otherwise remain on the back-burner while I work on summer projects.

Photo of a stone path in grass at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
I took this photo at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on April 26, 2007 with my Nikon D40 (day off from high school). It is from the same set as the photo on our About Page. The quality was degraded because I had uploaded it to Picasa (before that became Google Photos) and did not check on it for many years.

I hope everyone looks forward to reading some articles that have been in some degree of in progress for far too long.
