Right before or after photographing a miniature stop sign that I covered in an article, I came across an old and weathered tree stump on Woodhull Street in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.

From the looks of it, it has been a while since a tree stood proudly in that tree pit. The tree must have been large, however. The tree stump in the above photo is large for a Brooklyn tree pit, although perhaps not as large as the stump left behind by a tree that was fallen by high winds in Brooklyn Heights on August 3, 2020.
