I previously wrote about Brave Search dropping its partial dependency on Bing for web search results. As the webmaster of a site that has been blacklisted by Bing for almost the entirety of 2023, I considered this to be good news, especially since I had previously noted some ominous signals on the issue. Brave took another step toward full independence with its August 3, 2023 announcement that it will no longer rely on Bing for image search results. According to Brave’s announcement, it will now serve image search results from its own independent index. I have not tested it yet, but it is good to see another player in the image search game.
