I pre-ordered Pokémon Legends: Arceus and received my copy back in February. However, I was very busy with my day-job at the time and I did not have time to play. With Pokémon Scarlet and Violet coming out in one week (I pre-ordered Violet), I decided that I ought to play Arceus before the new games come out. I have been quite impressed so far. While Arceus is best understood in part as a test-game for new Pokémon mechanics, the mechanics are well-implemented and ancient Sinnoh makes for an interesting setting. The game comes the closest that Pokémon has in a while to recapturing some of the wonder and magic of the first two generations of games (Ruby and Sapphire, the third generation, were not shabby). With all of that serious analysis aside, my favorite part of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, is undoubtedly sneaking up on unsuspecting Starly and plunking them in the back with a Poké Ball. Strangely satisfying. (I have many Starly.)
