Ghostwriter, a markdown editor, is my go-to writing tool (see review). I use it to draft all my New Leaf Journal content. I recently began syndicating my Mastodon posts to Twitter using the free and open source Mastodon Twitter Crossposter. Mastodon allows for longer posts than does Twitter. If a syndicated Mastodon post is longer than Twitter’s 280 character limit, the content is cut off and a link to the Mastodon post is included. I generally prefer for syndication purposes to have the complete – for that reason, I try to keep certain Mastodon posts within 280 characters. I started by using an online site, but then it occurred to me that Ghostwriter is perfect for the task. At the bottom of the Ghostwriter window, you can set it to show characters. Perfect for Twitter character counting.
