I use hBlock on Linux. It is a script which adds a domain blocklist to the hosts file (also available for MacOS via Brew). Back in December 2021, I wrote an article about how I had to temporarily clear the blocklist to purchase health insurance in New York. I recently discovered another case where a site does not like hBlock’s list. In December 2022, I purchased a subscription to the Washington Times (more to support the paper than for subscriber features since I follow the paper via RSS). I discovered that with hBlock enabled, I cannot sign into the Times. Interesting issue. However, with that being said, the New York Health insurance site and the Washington Times are the only particularly notable hBlock conflicts I have run into since I started running hBlock in late 2021.
