On this day in history, Byzantine Emperor Constantine XI participated in what would be the last vespers in the Hagia Sophia as a Christian cathedral. Constantine XI would bravely fall with his men while making a last stand against the Ottoman invasion the next day.  I covered both the last vespers and Constantine XI’s last stand in two New Leaf Journal articles.
