The New York Post reported that New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced a new traffic safety plan. As a pedestrian who is regularly zinged by bikes (including e-bikes) running lights and riding on sidewalks, I was curious to see what was in the plan. Alas, from the article, it sounds like our Mayor’s first, second, and third concerns are making New York City even more amenable to bikes than it already is – evinced by the fact that he wrote to the announcement press conference on a bike. Cars are a problem, but electric bikes are a worse problem. This plan, funded by my tax money, makes one problem worse at the expense of the other.
