If you’ve always dreamed of cozying up inside your own beautiful lighthouse on the water, far from the hustle and bustle of daily life, now’s your chance: A 68-foot-tall structure in Lake Superior is for sale, with a starting bid of just $10,000.
As of August 8, 2023, the top bid was just $16,000. So it remains on the evening of August 12. I am no expert on the going rates for lighthouses these days. But $16,000 seems like a decent deal for a 68-foot tall lighthouse in a nice location, especially when you consider inflation these days. It is almost certainly a better pound-for-pound deal than $160 million for the former St. Francis campus in Brooklyn Heights. However, that $16,000 does not account for maintenance, so perhaps there is a reason that prospective buyers are not driving the price up.
