From The Pokémon Company Is Looking To Hire Someone With NFT Knowledge (Alana Hagues for Nintendo Life, 3.12.23):
The Pokémon Company International opened up a new job listing for a Corporate Development Principal a few days ago, and it looks like the position requires the candidate to have a grasp of Web3, including blockchain.
Back in November, I posted an article praising the original Pokémon games for inspiring the imagination and expressed my hope that the series could recapture the magic of the originals in a new format from what it managed in the spinoff game, Pokémon: Legends of Arceus. I took the position that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet appeared to be a step in the right direction, and I suppose that the concept may be notwithstanding the significant technical issues that have haunted the generation Pokémon games thus far. Do you know what would be a big step away from recapturing the magic of the original generation one Pokémon games for a new generation? NFTs. Let us hope, as Ms. Hagues suggested may be the case, that a position at the Pokémon Company requiring NFT expertise has more to do with cracking down on copyright violations than a new direction for Pokémon. If not, I may need to revisit my article praising Nintendo for retaining an emphasis on physical media (not that Nintendo has not tried questionable schemes in the past)…
