A French website called LA WEBUSE published a comparison of three privacy-friendly analytics solutions for WordPress: Burst Statistics, Koko Analytics, and Matomo. In so doing, they linked to my review of Koko Analytics in the conclusion. I thank LA WEBUSE for the link and return the favor here. Burst Statistics came out well after we were using Koko Analytics. I studied it briefly after reading about it on Hacker News. Burst looks like it comes with similar privacy benefits and more features, but Koko works well for us, so I am not too inclined to experiment (it provided the information for our 2020, 2021, and 2022 most-visited article rankings). Self-hosted Matomo is a good solution for people who want strong privacy benefits combined with more detailed statistics and tracking.
