I subscribe to the Atlas Obscura  (link to feed). Sometimes it is not quite clear from the description what the link will cover. I had been burned before, so I was not confident what I would find when a story about the Alvinston Honey Bee appeared in my feed reader. I suppose I should not have been too surprised that I found a large bee statue. But I cannot say I was expecting it to be smiling and hugging a visitor (it is actually holding a sign, but the photo is deceptive on first glance). I also did not expect it to have boots. It is a good statue. I think I want one.

Recent readers may not be aware that we once covered a real (albeit nineteenth century) beekeeping story.
