On a 2018 walk through Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, I came across a car that captured my attention. To put it mildly, the unfortunate vehicle looked like it had seen better days.

Because more than three years have elapsed since I happened across the smashed car in Carroll Gardens, I do not remember much surrounding it rather than its sad condition. I believe that a tree branch had fallen on it – perhaps a branch from the tree adjacent to the car’s back door (this is not the first time that we covered fallen trees). Although The New Leaf Journal would not go live for another sixteen months, I somehow knew that the smashed car picture would come in handy some day in the future. I captured the moment with my BlackBerry Classic camera.
