Against Snapchat for the Web

Big news from Snapchat:

Everyday 332 million people open Snapchat on their phones, and with our camera, can start conversations with their real friends. Today, we’re introducing Snapchat for Web, a new way for our community to stay connected through our camera when they’re at their computers.

I have never used Snapchat and will never use Snapchat. Every app I install on my phone is free and open source (and not creepy like Snapchat). It may be strange for I think that Snapchat is headed in the wrong direction here. Like many other faddish proprietary social media and messaging platforms, it should be scaling down, not scaling up. But on the bright side, Snapchat is less bad than TikTok (granted, everything is less bad than TikTok).
