I noted in a leaflet a few days ago that I was re-watching the first season of Sound! Euphomium so that I could finally watch the second. The first season aired in 2016. I watched it when it aired and included it in my list of recommended anime series from 2011-2020 as a secondary pick. Now, after many years, I re-watched the first season so I could watch the second – which aired in 2017. The second season ratcheted up the drama and what could loosely be defined as three distinct arcs. It was a good watch – but it fell short of the smoother and more consistent first season. Since I am on a Euphonium run, I ordered the two movies (one spinoff and one sequel). Perhaps I will write a more comprehensive piece after I watch those. It is supposedly getting a third and final season someday.
