Sound! Euphonium is a very good anime series about a high school band that aired in 2016. I included it as a secondary recommendation in my list of anime to consider from 2011-2020. However, I only included the first of two seasons because I for whatever reason never got around to the second. After some time went by, my reason for not watching the second season became that I needed to re-watch the first. I’m now 2/3 through re-watching the first season. It’s a very good series led by a strong heroine (I’ll argue that the heroine-with-a-rotten-personality archetype became more popular after Euphonium) and the episodes are consistently good. But as I remember, it lacks a hook that takes it from very good to great.
