I published a Leaflet yesterday about Brave Search no longer using Bing for its image search results. Mojeek, a fully independent search engine with its own crawler and index took the same step with respect to Bing image reliance back in May. While Mojeek’s web search results come exclusively from its own index, it does not have its own image search results. Mojeek had previously offered users the option of using Pixabay or Bing. After removing the Bing option, Mojeek added Openverse as an image search option. Openverse is the successor to Creative Commons Search, which I had used to find illustrative images for a few articles (see example). Openverse draws images from a number of sources with creative commons and public domain licenses. I like this addition to Mojeek (see my previous post on the Mojeek calculator).
