Eric Adams, the Mayor of New York City, asserted that New York City has a brand and, unprompted, that Kansas does not have a brand. While I note in full disclosure that I voted for Curtis Sliwa, I do agree with the Mayor on occasion. On this occasion, I agree that New York City does in fact have a brand. However, the term “brand” is value-neutral. At the moment, I am not sure that New York City’s “brand” is something to tout at the moment (we peaked in the early 2010s). See my posts on crime, outdoor dining sheds, and bad dog owners. Well, we can still walk at least. (PS: Does Mr. Adams realize that a member of his party is the incumbent Governor of Kansas and currently in the midst of an uphill fight for reelection?)
