I use Mullvad VPN on some of my devices. One device that I do not use it on is my LineageOS Nexus 7 tablet. However, Mullvad offers its public DNS servers for free separate from its paid VPN service. I set up the adblocking DNS on my tablet with no issue using this guide. The guide also contains instructions for Firefox.
